Tuesday at Waimea Canyon

This morning I had a little adventure of my own. I decided to go down to Poipu beach by myself for a little sun and ocean breeze. It did not disappoint!

I sat down on my beach towel and just to the right of me two seals were playing in the surf! I don’t think you encounter this too much on any beaches on the mainland.

Two male monk seals playing in the surf.

I’ve never seen this on any other beaches I’ve been to and am blessed to have had this experience!

After some time here, we went up to Waimea Canyon. I learned many things by a Hawaiian native telling this group of tourists about ancient Hawaiian culture. I’ve learned that not many people ever see the top of the mountains in Kauai because they are always covered in clouds which is the island’s fresh water supply that fills this swamp sitting at the top of Kauai. I learned that it’s one of the world’s wettest places on earth.

While Hawaiians worship 400,000 gods, what amazes me is that God supplies all the freshwater on this island that the people need. On an island surrounded by salt water, this island has more than an abundant supply of freshwater the people will ever need.

Just learning this helps me to understand that God will always give me everything I will ever need. I could go through periods of low pay, wondering where I’ll get my next client, or periods of abundant wealth or excess, but in both of these situations God will see me through it all.

Coming here to Hawaii has helped me to see that! I came here for perspective and I found it!

I came here to get permission from God to drop some things, to reorganize my priorities, to reset boundaries with my work and trust in his provision for me and my children.

To relearn how to trust in Him.

To know that God will take care of myself and my boys in every circumstance.

I’ve been given a gift.

God thank you for this gift!
