A Drip Line
Back on December 15th I contracted Covid. I could have been exposed to it from a number of places. A preschool concert, church, a few Christmas parties. Anyway, I got sick and the first 4 days were pretty rough. While I got over the main symptoms of Covid, the fatigue was one that just didn’t go away, so on Wednesday, 17 days past the day my temperature spiked to 103, I was like enough is enough. My productivity went so far down I was losing money and as you know when you are a freelancer, you do not have built in days off or vacation time. You usually have to work through most illnesses. Back a year ago my boyfriend did an IV drip line after covid and I think it helped get back on his feet, so I learned there was a place that did that in Loveland and I got myself over there.
I sat there with a needle in my arm hoping I’d start to feel better immediately, but it didn’t happen that way. The next day is when I found more strength in my body, and even more so the day after but one of the things I think I am realizing about myself is that my body isn’t handling stress well. When I’m stressed out, which I am because I have a lot of work to catch up on, I start to take shallower breaths, almost like I’m holding my breath. Not sure why I do this, but I’m trying to practice more deep breathing, and learn that when I feel stressed I need to drink more water and do deep breathing exercises.
What bad things do you tend to do when you are stressed that makes things worse?
What have you done to turn that around?
